Belen
Belén, María Belén is a photographic book that, through archival photographs, documents and autobiographical texts, tells the story of María Belén Correa, a prominent transgender rights activist in Argentina and Latin America. Her personal story reflects the history of the LGBTQIA+ community in Latin America and the struggles it faced in the 1980s and 1990s.
Her journey is one of collective struggle for the recognition of trans identities and expressions. Throughout her life, she has founded organisations and community groups, secured legislation, improved quality of life and created support networks against the transphobic contexts that still persist today.
In 2012, María Belén founded the Trans Memory Archive to collect and preserve the life stories of the Argentine trans community, becoming a fundamental reference point and collective memory of trans identities.
Belén, María Belén is the winner of the Andy Rocchelli Grant 2025, an international award promoted by CESURA in memory of its co-founder Andy Rocchelli, who was killed in a mortar attack in Andreevka, Ukraine, in 2014.
This book is a co-publication between Cesura and the Archivo de la Memoria Trans Argentina, which recognises its political and historical value, so that Belén’s story can also be accessible in Argentina. All copies are hand-bound; therefore, inserts may vary.

An estimate of the delivery time is indicated when ordering. A shipment confirmation as well as a parcel tracking number will be sent to you by email when the parcel is picked up by the carrier.
The average times indicated do not constitute a strict deadline. LE BAL Books cannot be held responsible in the event of a late delivery.
If all of the books ordered are not in stock at the bookstore and you wish to receive the first part of your order, a delivery in two times is possible.
We deliver all over the world with the following carriers: La Poste, Chronopost, Colissimo, Mondial-Relay.

Pick up
The free pick up of your order at the bookstore is available upon presentation of an identity document. Any order not collected from the shop within one month of payment will be automatically refunded.
Shipping fees
Shipping costs are calculated based on the chosen carrier, the weight and the delivery address of your package. Once your order is in your cart, you can have an estimate of the shipping costs offered by each transport service.
Return
Retraction possible within 7 days from receiving the order. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Returned books must be in perfect condition. The bookstore reserves the right to refuse reimbursement of the books if this shouldn't be the case.
