Sujet peu répandu dans le paysage éditorial, Collectionner les tombes présente une précieuse archive photographique sur l’art funéraire du XIXème siècle à nos jours. L’ouvrage puise dans le fonds d’images de cimetières de l’artiste et collectionneur André Chabot. Depuis une cinquantaine d’années, ce dernier dresse un inventaire méticuleux de tombes, sculptures, chapelles sépulcrales et autres catacombes, photographiées dans plus de soixante-dix pays.
Sur le postulat du photographe, «l’art funéraire, c’est du passé», et à l’heure où cette forme esthétique est en voie de disparition, les éditions Païen invitent à arpenter ce livre comme on déambulerait dans les allées d’un cimetière afin d’en recueillir les derniers témoignages. Collectionner les tombes est une invitation à la découverte d’une «vaste nécropole mondiale où l’on pourra s’attarder devant les tombes les plus humbles et les plus émouvantes comme devant les mausolées les plus grandioses et les plus spectaculaires».
L'ouvrage est préfacé par Lia Pradal (Editions Païen) et contient des textes de Sylvain Besson (directeur des collections, Musée Nicéphore Niépce) et Ambre Charpier (critique d'art et chercheuse à la Sorbonne) ainsi qu'un essai visuel de la photographe Marie Quéau. Il est tiré en 500 exemplaires et mêle sérigraphie, risographie et impression offset. Collectionner les tombes a reçu le soutien de la Région Occitanie, la Fondation des Amis des Beaux-Arts et de la Fondation Polycopies.

An estimate of the delivery time is indicated when ordering. A shipment confirmation as well as a parcel tracking number will be sent to you by email when the parcel is picked up by the carrier.
The average times indicated do not constitute a strict deadline. LE BAL Books cannot be held responsible in the event of a late delivery.
If all of the books ordered are not in stock at the bookstore and you wish to receive the first part of your order, a delivery in two times is possible.

Pick up
The free pick up of your order at the bookstore is available upon presentation of an identity document. Any order not collected from the shop within one month of payment will be automatically refunded.
Shipping fees
Shipping costs are calculated based on the chosen carrier, the weight and the delivery address of your package. Once your order is in your cart, you can have an estimate of the shipping costs offered by each transport service.
Return
Retraction possible within 7 days from receiving the order. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Returned books must be in perfect condition. The bookstore reserves the right to refuse reimbursement of the books if this shouldn't be the case.
