A retrospective book which finally brings together the works of this major artist.
Considered one of the most important artists currently at work, Arthur Jafa has been exploring for years black American culture, the history of slavery and systemic violence against black people in the USA through video installations, films and photos.
Since childhood, the artist has cultivated an obsession with found images and arranging photographs cut from magazines and books in his own work. This practice, which can still largely be seen at the root of his creative process today, is at the center of the incredible videos he has delivered over the years, including "Love is the Message, the Message is Death".
Published on the occasion of its exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, the Magnumb catalog presents a retrospective of the most famous works of the artist ("Love is the Message, the Message is Death", "The White Album") as well as never-before-shown works and a selection of academic essays.
