To accompany Miguel Rio Branco's exhibition in 2020, Le BAL is publishing the book 1968-1992 Photographic works. Through some renowned colour images and black and white unseen series, from the late 1960s to the 1990s, this book offers a singular journey through the different cities the artist has visited. From New York to Brazil to Mexico, more than 100 photos document people damaged by the city.
Miguel Rio Branco’s photography captures the bodies of men and women in all their glory and their weariness, their modesty and exhibitionism, with intentional close-ups, against backgrounds devoid of depth. He collects the archives of depravity and rubbish as something that should not be forgotten or pretended not to be seen. His own gaze supports those of his models: nothing is evaded. His characters have their backs to the wall. As the artist himself has put it: “Photography most often oppresses or asphyxiates reality.”

The average times indicated do not constitute a strict deadline. LE BAL Books cannot be held responsible in the event of a late delivery.
If all of the books ordered are not in stock at the bookstore and you wish to receive the first part of your order, a delivery in two times is possible.

Pick up
The free pick up of your order at the bookstore is available upon presentation of an identity document. Any order not collected from the shop within one month of payment will be automatically refunded.
Shipping fees
Shipping costs are calculated based on the chosen carrier, the weight and the delivery address of your package. Once your order is in your cart, you can have an estimate of the shipping costs offered by each transport service.
Return
Retraction possible within 7 days from receiving the order. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Returned books must be in perfect condition. The bookstore reserves the right to refuse reimbursement of the books if this shouldn't be the case.
