On the occasion of the exhibition, LE BAL and MACK co-published Scene by Italian photographer Alex Majoli. The book gathers the emblematic images of the series realized over eight years. Classified by geographical area, the images are accompanied by two unpublished texts: "Le théâtre de la vie selon Alex Majoli" by David Campany and "Déphotographier" by Corinne Rondeau.
Congo, Egypt, Brazil, India, China and Europe, the photographer has traveled the world in search of the theatricality of everyday life. Photographed in black and white, the images play with the darkness to illuminate only certain details. Who are these characters? Are they the actors of a fiction, or of their own life? Here is a strange show that questions. Over the pages we go from the anger of a protester, to the dismay of a refugee, to the disturbing calm of a British pub to the day after Brexit.
If the photographer's influences are multiple, the theatricality in art particularly inspires him. His pictures evoke the dramatic chiaroscuro of Caravaggio, who played with light to illuminate certain actions and conceal others. Fiction or reality? A poignant or fantasized truth? The dramatic breath distorts the everyday and transforms European history into art.

Pick up
The free pick up of your order at the bookstore is available upon presentation of an identity document. Any order not collected from the shop within one month of payment will be automatically refunded.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the chosen carrier, the weight and the delivery address of your package. Once your order is in your cart, you can have an estimate of the shipping costs offered by each transport service.
Return
Retraction possible within 7 days from receiving the order. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Returned books must be in perfect condition. The bookstore reserves the right to refuse reimbursement of the books if this shouldn't be the case.
